Recycling is the process of converting waste materials into new materials and objects. Now add in kids, some imagination and creativity and a few guidelines and see what happens. Get the local car clubs and the vet organizations involved and it’s almost magic!
Project description:
Creating 3-dimensional(3-D) wheeled vehicles within specified categories or 2-D artwork depicting a wheeled vehicle – stationary or moveable (example: powered by some source). Independent community judges award best in category and age group.
This project was developed by Nevada City, California artist and teacher – Susan Barry, Grass Valley business owner, Diane Blakley and the Nevada County Girl Scout Service Unit 158 Team Lead, Becky Gillespie. It was so successful that they wanted to share it with other groups or organization who would like to try it.
Included within this website is just about everything you would need…except for the recycled and repurposed materials, glue, tape and other supplies.
Getting the community involved is an added bonus on this project. Check with local car clubs, veterans organizations, service clubs to see about sponsorships, events where the Recycled Roadsters can be on display and shown off to the crowds at the event.
Have local artists, teachers, mayors, et cetera, be judges.
All the forms and instructions are included. Just add the kids and imagination!
This project was created by a second grade Cub Scout. It was the People’s Choice Award at the 2022 Roamin Angels Car show.
What do you get when you mix boys and girls with the idea of creating vehicles out of recycled and repurposed materials? Well, the projects are inspirational and extraordinary. Get local car clubs, service groups, and veteran organizations involved and you have a multi-generational extravaganza called Recycled Roadsters™!
